Slower growth rate over the next two decades

With the fastest growth taking place in the upper-income categories, growth in the Seeker (Annual household income is from Rs. 5,00,000 to Rs. 15,00,000 at 2020-21 prices) category is forecast to slow down in the next few years. Against a 4.2 percent annual growth in the last five years, between 2020-21 and 2030-31, growth in this category will be 4.8 percent or so and will slow down to 2 percent by 2046-47. Over 52 percent of Seekers live in rural areas, and 20 percent in small towns with populations of less than a million. About 12 percent of Seekers live in metros.
