As sanitation and hygiene become focus areas for the government, the impact of creating toilet facilities within the premises has gained momentum, particularly in the poorer sections of society. At an all-India level, nearly 57 households have access to toilets with running water compared to 9 percent that do not have access to toilets. Even so, an overwhelming majority of Destitute households (21 percent) do not have access to toilets and among the Aspirers, this percentage is 10 percent.
