A majority of households in Eastern and Central India belong either to the Aspirer or Destitute income classes. In sharp contrast, most households in Northern, Western and Southern India are classified either as Aspirer or Middle Class. The income distribution in the North-east falls somewhere in between. A significant trend that comes up is that the Central zone has registered the highest growth of rich households followed by the Eastern zone.
